I met up with trip leaders Max Rive and Maddee McCardle and a few other photographers in Evenes Norway. We drove to a northern island called Senja. We started the trip hike camping at Husfjellet peak on the north side of the island, overlooking Devil's teeth and Romnen peak. Due to the airplane losing my luggage, I had to make do with only my daytime travel clothes and a borrowed sleeping bag. We had a bit of rain and fog, but overall conditions were really good.
After hiking down and having lunch, we climbed up Hersten peak overlooking Segla. The sunset colors were amazing from 12:00 am to 2:00 as the sun flirted with the horizon but never set.
After waiting it out for another day due to continued rain, we set off for another mountain peak called Grytetippen. We found a great place to camp. then set out on the steep 3000 foot climb to the peak. On the way we came across a herd of Reindeer. I was amazed at the size of their antlers. Then we had spectacular views from the peak, but too many clouds to open up a photo as we wished for. We waited for hours in the cold wind, and finally had to turn back around 11pm. We never got a good sunset, do will have to return one day soon. We hiked out and headed back, stopping at Mount Stintinden for photos. Unfortunately, clouds covered most of the peak.
After leaving Eveness, I drove down the Lofoten islands for some additional hiking. The first day was continual rain, but the following day I managed epic hikes at both Kvalvika Beach/ Ryten peak and Reinebringen. Finally, I got to stay at the infamous red houses at Rorbuer.
The following day I explored the last town in the chain of islands, known as A, which means stream. The original name was Aa, and is now sometimes referred to as A i Lofoten. I hiked around Agvatnet lake and then Fjosdalen Lake.
For the last day the skies cleared, and I got up early to hike Festvagtinden peak with views of Henningsvaer, before having to leave back to the airport.
